Frequently asked questions
Are the panels fireproof?
Yes, all Ideatec products comply with common fire safety standards for interior applications and are available as standard in a fire-retardant version (Euroclass B-s1,d0). This means that the panels:
- slow the spread of flames,
- hardly produce any smoke,
- and do not emit burning droplets when exposed to fire.
For most spaces such as offices, hotels, restaurants, schools and public buildings, this is more than sufficient and compliant with current regulations.
For projects where higher fire-resistance requirements apply (such as technical rooms, escape routes or special constructions), on certain models we offer the option of choosing increased fire resistance (fire-resistant). Feel free to contact us for customisation or additional certificates.
Can I install the panels myself or do I need a technician?
Designed with ease of use in mind, our acoustic panels can be installed by handy DIYers themselves. We offer detailed installation manuals and videos to guide you through the process step by step.
However, for larger projects or situations where precision and optimal performance are crucial, we recommend using a professional installer. An experienced installer will ensure that the panels are installed correctly, improving their effectiveness and durability.
In short, depending on your skills and the scope of the project, you can opt for self-installation or professional help. We are ready to support you with advice and tools in both cases.
How many panels do I need for my space?
The number of panels required depends on:
- The size of the space,
- The type of space (e.g. office, restaurant, classroom),
- And what acoustic goal you want to achieve (reduce echo, improve speech intelligibility, etc.).
As a guideline:
📌 In typical applications, about 20-40% of the wall surface is covered with acoustic panels.
What is the difference between sound insulation and sound absorption, and what exactly do these panels do?
🔈 Sound absorption = Reduce echo and reverberation within one room.
🔇 Sound insulation = blocking sound between two spaces.
➡️ Our panels are designed for sound absorption: they reduce reverberation, improve speech intelligibility and create comfortable acoustics. So they are ideal for spaces such as offices, classrooms, restaurants and meeting rooms.
Sound insulation (e.g. blocking noise between rooms) requires other building measures, such as additional mass or insulation layers.
What is the delivery time of the panels?
The standard delivery time is on average 2 to 3 weeks, depending on:
- the chosen model,
- the finish,
- and whether customisation is needed.
For larger or complex projects, the delivery time may be slightly longer. We always give a clear estimate when quoting.
